Dwarkanath and his wife were separated from their child, a son named Shankar, when they attended the Khumbh Mela in Central India. Years later they are still awaiting his arrival. Notorious con-man and gangster, Sunderdas, comes to know of this, and hires a look-alike named Kundanlal, who meets with Dwarkananth, and is accepted immediately. Sundedas wants to use Kundanlal as a tool to get money from the wealthy Dwarkanath, but Kundanlal refuses to do so. As a result, Sunderdas exposes Kundanlal, and hires another look-alike to take his place as the missing son.

The film grapples with multiple issues, but primarily the changing nature of love and its impact on the twin institutions of marriage and family.

It is a story of a young boy Prem whose family has been destroyed by a greedy man. Prem's father had a fledging business which was taken over by deception. The story evolves when Prem decides to get revenge even if it involves killing everyone in his way.

Karan hires Lata as his secretary and asks her to move to one of his cottages with her family. However, things take a turn when she is accused of stealing a valuable necklace.
